Lynn & Liana Designs is a family business in Steinbach, Manitoba, founded in 2018 by Melissa and Evan Funk with Melissa's parents, Mike and Candace Cancade. It started at home and takes its name from Melissa's and her sister's middle names.
The spark was a material: an environmentally friendly epoxy developed at the Oak Bluff Hutterite Colony, which the family decided to use in kitchen serveware. The boards pair wood with hand-poured resin, so no two swirls come out quite alike. The company has been featured on Good Morning America and The View. ModernTribe's challah boards are Canadian maple accented with an eco-friendly epoxy made from recycled bioproducts.
