Random House

Random House got its name in 1927, when founders Bennett Cerf and Donald Klopfer said they'd publish a few books on the side "at random."

Based: New York, NY
Since: 1927
Craft: Children's and trade books

Nearly a century later, Random House is part of Penguin Random House, owned by Germany's Bertelsmann, and its children's list is home to Dr. Seuss. That shows up on ModernTribe's shelf: Dr. Seuss's Horton Hears a Hanukkah Party! and the PAW Patrol counting book Happy Hanukkah, Pups!, both from Random House Books for Young Readers. Alongside them sit Hanukkah and Jewish-values titles from the wider Penguin Random House family, including Suzy Ultman's I Like Your Chutzpah and It's a Mitzvah! board books and The Very Hungry Caterpillar's 8 Nights of Chanukah.
