- Upcycled PEZ mezuzahs
PEZuzah turns PEZ dispensers into mezuzahs, and it works better than it has any right to. It's the work of artists and designers Libbi Kantor and Roy Schechter, who met on Tinder. For their first date he brought a movie projector, and they watched a film projected onto a tree.
When they moved in together, they needed a mezuzah for the door and couldn't find one that felt like them, so they made their own out of a Dumbo PEZ dispenser. Friends loved it, they kept making more, and PEZuzah was born. Kantor, a visual communication designer, holds a master's degree from Bezalel.
Each one starts with a collectible dispenser, with characters from Sesame Street, Star Wars, Disney and Looney Tunes, fitted with a brass shin and a hanging device for the doorpost. At ModernTribe you can choose a kosher scroll or a secular poem to go inside. The Jewish Museum and the Weitzman museum stores both carry PEZuzahs too.
