Hulbert Waldroup

Hulbert Waldroup is the painter behind the Bronx's Amadou Diallo memorial mural, now bringing a bold pop-art eye to Star of David and chai canvases.

Craft: Pop-art painting

Hulbert Waldroup is a painter and muralist whose best-known public work is his memorial mural for Amadou Diallo on Wheeler Avenue in the Bronx. The mural's depiction of police drew pushback in 2001, and it stayed in place thanks to publicity and support from the local community.

His Judaica work blends pop art and urban surrealism in bold color. At ModernTribe you'll find his signed canvas giclée prints and original paintings of the Star of David, hamsa with chai, hamsa with evil eye, a heart with evil eye, and the Hebrew word for love (ahava).
