NolaGlass is the studio of David Lindsley, a glass artist born and raised in New Orleans who has been surrounded by art his whole life. He found glass as his medium in 2005 and has since made both functional and sculptural pieces.
His best-known Judaica starts at the wedding. Couples break a hand-blown NolaGlass Smash Glass under the chuppah, save the shards, and ship them to Lindsley after the wedding. He then hand-blows those shards into a keepsake: Shabbat candlesticks, a kiddush cup, a vase, a bowl, an ornament, a heart paperweight or an eternity ring sculpture.
The keepsake collection came to him when glass artist Mark Rosenbaum of Rosetree Glass retired. Because couples kept asking for these pieces, Rosenbaum worked closely with Lindsley so the collection would continue in another artist's hands.
