Sophistiplate is a Laguna Beach, California tableware company started by father and son Gary and Dan Seehoff. After Thanksgiving 2015 left the family washing dishes for days, they vowed to go disposable, then couldn't find anything elegant enough, so they designed it. Gary had built and sold a national homewares company, and Dan trained as a chef under David Burke at David Burke Townhouse in New York. They found an Italian manufacturer, and their wavy-shaped plates became an Oprah Favorite.
The line has since grown into boards and entertaining gifts. ModernTribe's Rosh Hashanah pieces from them include Honeybee wavy plates and bowls, honeybee napkins and guest towels, golden apple salad plates, a beehive honey jar and Shana Tova boards.
