The Beistle Company has made decorations and party goods since 1900. Founder Martin Luther Beistle sold calendars for the Pittsburgh Art Calendar Company, and when hotel customers complained about watering their lobby plants, he made paper plants that never needed water. On a trip to Heidelberg, Germany, he saw a honeycomb technique for paper, and honeycomb tissue decorations are still part of the line. The company started in Pittsburgh, moved to Oakville and later settled in Shippensburg, Pennsylvania. Its Halloween line, introduced in the 1920s, helped make Halloween decorating an American habit.
For Hanukkah, ModernTribe has carried Beistle's dreidel bopper headband for adults, two printed dreidels bouncing on coiled wire.
