Description

Our borosilicate glass chalice offers a modern take on the traditional Kiddush Cup. Each contour of the unconventional glass material is carefully sculpted through flamework, with a textured stem adding dimension and intrigue to this minimalist design. Alternating color patterns along the rim create space for an individual interpretation of the rituals commonly observed.

Modernist Judaica design

Via Maris is modernist Judaica founded by Dana Hollar Schwartz with designer Jamie Wolfond. The New York brand started from a simple observation: it was nearly impossible to find Jewish objects designed in the Modernist tradition.

The name means "way of the sea," after an ancient trade route. The look applies Bauhaus principles to ritual objects, with clean forms and quiet color names like Cloud, Clay, Sand and Midnight. The range covers menorahs, mezuzahs, kiddush cups, seder plates and Shabbat and Chanukah candles. Via Maris gives 1% of annual sales to charity, and its kosher mezuzah scrolls are handmade in Israel by female soferot (scribes).
