Yahalomis is a ceramics studio in Jaffa run by husband-and-wife team Tal and Roy Yahalomi, who design and make handmade ceramic pieces for the contemporary home. They have worked on joint projects since 2010 and opened the studio in 2014. Roy studied industrial design at the Holon Institute of Technology, and Tal studied at the Bezalel Academy of Art and Design in Jerusalem.
The studio creates its own materials, down to its own clay and ceramic colors. Its signature is lava rock clay: they grind basalt rock from the north of Israel and turn it into a casting material. Fine lines and high-end finishes run through the work, which appeared in the 8th Biennale for Israeli Ceramics at the Eretz Israel Museum in Tel Aviv.
At ModernTribe, look for small ceramic mezuzah cases in white, turquoise, grey or black, plain or with silver or 24k gold. There are also kiddush cups, a modern seder plate, a wall hamsa and modular candle holders of ceramic and basalt rock.
