Description
Pinky Bloom is already Brooklyn's greatest kid detective, and now she's adding "pet sitter" to her list of titles. On top of taking care of her friend Lucy's guinea pig and dealing with her annoying little brother, Ari, she wants to help her dad, who's supposed to blow the shofar at Rosh Hashanah services. But his shofar suddenly won't make a sound! With the High Holidays days away, Pinky has to figure out what's behind the shofar's silence―if she doesn't get sidetracked by a missing pet and the suspicious activities of a pet shop employee.

The name joins the founders' youngest children: Madeline's daughter Karen and Judye's son Ben. From Rockville, Maryland, the pair built Kar-Ben into a home for Jewish picture books, earning the Sydney Taylor Book Award committee's Body of Work honor, before Lerner Publishing Group bought the press. It now publishes from Minneapolis and calls itself the largest publisher of exclusively Jewish-themed children's books in the world, covering holidays, life-cycle moments, folktales, Israel and Jewish history. ModernTribe carries Hanukkah and Purim picture books like Golem Loves Latkes and The Queen Who Saved Her People, the My Family Haggadah board book, and the yearly Executive Jewish Calendar.
