Amy Weiss has known since she was six that she wanted to be an artist. She doodled in every notebook she could find, and everyone assumed she'd grow out of it. Instead she earned an MFA in sculpture from the University of Pennsylvania and worked as a graphic designer for nonprofits before starting her own company.
Amy Weiss Design turns her original art into custom Judaica, much of it personalized for weddings, b'nai mitzvah, new homes and other Jewish milestones. She likes that the work combines the digital and the physical, and she calls herself a problem solver who loves a new project.
The mezuzahs at ModernTribe show her playful side: laser-cut Baltic birch cases shaped like a deli pickle jar and a bookshelf, one dancing with musical notes, and a pomegranate with hand-drawn artwork over a shimmering blue and purple foil backdrop.
