Description

Embrace modern elegance with the Black and White Pomegranates on Silk Habotai Tallit. Perfect for adding a touch of sophistication to your service.

This tallit is truly one-of-a-kind, featuring a unique pomegranate print originally hand-illustrated before being transformed into a repeat pattern on 100% silk habotai. The entire garment is meticulously sewn by hand, combining lightweight silk with a heavier vintage red silk used for the atarah (neckpiece) and the four corners. This design choice ensures that the tallit gracefully rests on the neck and elegantly drapes, aided by gravity. The tzitzit are made of thick wool, personally tied, adding a personal touch to this sacred garment.

Hand-illustrated textile tallitot

Elly Bovarnick is a Tampa-raised Judaica artist whose tallitot begin as her own hand drawings of pomegranates, a Jewish symbol of abundance, printed in repeat on cotton voile or silk habotai. "I really feel like making tallitot is my calling," she told the Jewish Press of Tampa. "It's meditative for me."

She earned a BA in art and art history from New College of Florida, then spent four years in Spain, working as an au pair, teaching English to high school students in Granada and León, and earning a master's in textile and surface design from the Istituto Europeo di Design in Madrid.

Back home, she launched Elly Bovarnick Studios and threw herself into Tampa's Jewish community as a Moishe House Without Walls host. In 2025 that work earned her the Charles Adler Young Leadership Award from the Tampa JCCs and Federation.

She is now a rabbinical student at Hebrew College in Newton, Massachusetts, and hopes to bring that learning into her ritual art. At ModernTribe her work centers on tallitot, each built on hand-drawn pomegranates in its own palette.
