garbella is the Pittsburgh studio of artist and maker Amy Garbark. She studied fine art at Alfred University, taught art in public schools and worked for an arts-based nonprofit while garbella grew on the side, selling on Etsy from 2006. After she was accepted to the Handmade Arcade craft fair in 2008 she set up a small screenprinting studio in her basement, and in 2010 she went full-time.

For about 15 years Amy has designed and hand screen-printed her work. The pieces ModernTribe has carried are Jewish-deli kid staples: "B is for Bagel," "M is for Matzo Ball" and "R is for Rugelach" bibs and onesies printed in water-based ink on cotton, plus a hand screen-printed "B is for Bagel" flour-sack tea towel.

Her work has since widened to fiber art. She naturally dyes fabric with plants like indigo, coreopsis and cosmos from her own garden, makes cyanotype quilted hangings, and teaches natural dye, basketry and cyanotype workshops at her studio, craft schools, botanical gardens and museums.
