At HamsaMade, Philadelphia mosaic artist Danielle Abrams turns broken things into family keepsakes, most often the glass a couple smashes under the chuppah. "My purpose is to make the family heirlooms of tomorrow from the treasures of yesterday," she says.
Danielle graduated from Drexel University in 2014 with a B.S. in Design & Merchandising and spent seven years in a retail buying office before founding HamsaMade in April 2019. That same year she was a Tribe12 Fellow, and in 2021 she became Drexel Hillel's first Artist Educator in Residence. She calls HamsaMade a sustainable Judaica brand: every mosaic uses recycled materials and the customer's own broken keepsakes, and she also leads community mosaic workshops.
For ModernTribe she makes smash-glass mosaic hamsas in small and large sizes, with or without an evil eye, a matching mezuzah case with or without a shin, and a hamsa-and-mezuzah gift set, all built from your own wedding glass.
