Each set of twelve 5.5-inch candles is dipped in the traditional manner by craftsmen in Safed (Tzfat) and burns with a clear, bright flame for about three and a half hours. Colors include Blue Snow, Tree Blue, White Turquoise and Orange Fantasy. Safed became a center of Kabbalah in the 16th century, home to Isaac Luria and to Solomon Alkabetz, who wrote Lekha Dodi, the hymn that welcomes Shabbat.
