Macmillan Publishers dates to 1843, when Daniel and Alexander Macmillan, brothers from Scotland's Isle of Arran, went into the book trade in London and Cambridge. The house went on to publish Lewis Carroll's Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and Rudyard Kipling's The Jungle Book, and it is counted among the "Big Five" English-language publishers. Since 1999 it has been owned by Germany's Holtzbrinck Publishing Group.
Its children's imprints are behind the Hanukkah board and activity books ModernTribe carries, including Happy Hanukkah, Pout-Pout Fish!, Busy Hanukkah and Sticker Countdown: Hanukkah.
