Description

Miriam's Cup honors women's role in Judaism and the Exodus. Moses' sister's name decorates the sides of this handmade goblet in English and Hebrew.

No Seder table is complete without Miriam's Cup.

Miriam's Cup is filled with water instead of wine and serves as a symbol of Miriam's Well, which was the source of water for the Israelite's in the desert.

Putting a Miriam's Cup on your table is a beautiful way of making your seder more inclusive. It's also a way of drawing attention to the importance of Miriam and the other women of the Exodus story, women who are sometimes overlooked. Miriam's Well is said to have been a magical source of water that followed the Israelite's for 40 years. The waters of this well were said to be healing and sustaining.

Miriam's Cup is completely and loving handcrafted in Pennsylvania from pewter and brass and measures 4.75" H x 2.25" W in each side.

More about Joy Stember

When Joy returned home from her Taglit Birthright trip to Israel in 2010, she felt a stronger connection to Israel, her culture and her identity as an artist. This journey profoundly changed her perspective and led her to discover her true passion. She began to focus on creating contemporary Judaica full-time and opened the Joy Stember Metal Arts Studio, LLC. This decision has not only provided great personal fulfillment but also the opportunity to share her craft with the world.

The clean lines and repetitive nature in urban landscapes inspire her work, as well as mid-century design. She uses a variety of metals such as pewter, brass, bronze, silver and copper and each piece is lovingly fabricated by scoring and folding sheets of pewter to make 3-dimensional works of art. The gorgeous textures are pulled from many influences and are embossed into the metal. As a designer and maker, her intent is to encourage the importance of American high-end craft in the modern home by creating contemporary heirlooms for a new generation of collectors.
