Printed novelty socks

Hot Sox began in 1970, when husband-and-wife team Gary and Sarah Wolkowitz started making fashion socks to wear with the HotPants of the day. At the time the market offered little beyond nylon opaques and plain acrylic socks, so their printed, colorful designs opened a new category. The Wolkowitzes ran the company until 2007, when Renfro, the Mount Airy, North Carolina sock maker, acquired it.

At ModernTribe, Hot Sox means Jewish food puns and holiday motifs you can wear: Challah at Ya Boy and Challah at Ya Girl socks, a schmear-topped everything bagel, and Hanukkah designs with menorahs and dreidels.
