Description

A little glass treasure with a whole lot of heart. This handmade dish is the kind of small, special gift that finds its place on any table - holding a ring, a few pieces of gelt, a havdalah spice or two, or simply catching the light.

Made and signed by the artist (a proud bubbe!), each piece carries her signature streaky, swirling glasswork, so no two are ever quite alike. A perfect little mazel tov, hostess thank-you, or just-because for the Jewish home.

Jacki Cohen is a fused-glass artist working from a self-contained home studio in North Scottsdale, Arizona. She loves color, and her signature work is bright, abstract and contemporary.

She found glass through a not-for-credit stained glass class at Scottsdale Community College in 2006. The stained glass felt too restrictive, but the studio also offered fused glass. "I knew right then and there my passion has been discovered and ignited," she says. She incorporated in 2009 to sell professionally, and in 2014 built her own studio with power tools and a large kiln, because to her a true glass artist has to master the firing. She calls herself self-taught, learning through classes, books and long hours of trial and error, and her ASU marketing degree helps on the business side.

Her Judaica is meant for contemporary ritual. At ModernTribe you'll find her Synergy and Electric Azul menorahs, striped and swirling seder plates, fused and dichroic glass mezuzahs, and a Star of David trinket dish. She is a juried artist of the Sonoran Arts League and the Arizona Artists Guild.
