Description

For the friend whose week revolves around the Tuesday game, you need a mezuzah that speaks their language.

The design lays out a column of mahjong tiles in soft watercolor pinks, topped with a Hebrew Shin, a little wink to anyone who knows the click of the tiles and the joy of a good hand. It's a charming gift for a bubbe, a longtime mahj group, or anyone who'd smile at finding their favorite game on the doorpost.

About the brand

Lea Joelle Handmade

Lea Joelle Handmade is Jenni Arielly's hand-painted Judaica for kids, which began with personalized hamsa favors she painted for her own 2011 wedding.

Craft
Hand-painted wooden Judaica

Lea Joelle Handmade started with a hamsa and a wedding. Jenni Arielly fell for the hamsa hand on her first trip to Israel, and when she wanted personalized hamsas as favors for her own wedding in 2011 and couldn't find anyone making them, she painted them herself. Her guests went home with white hamsa keychains decorated with purple lovebirds.

Those favors turned into an Etsy shop, and in 2018 Jenni began painting full-time. She is a wife and mom of twin boys, and she works mostly on wood with acrylics, using paint pens for fine lettering and detail.

Today the line is personalized Judaica for children and families. At ModernTribe that means mezuzahs, Shabbat candlesticks and tzedakah boxes painted with a child's name and themes they'll love: dinosaurs, astronauts, cars and trucks, zoo and farm animals, rainbows, unicorns, sports and flowers. They are made to mark a new baby or a first room, and to grow up with the family.
