Goodstein Ceramics is the Anchorage, Alaska studio of Leah Goodstein, a full-time potter who specializes in Judaica. She came to clay by a winding route. She earned bachelor's degrees in French horn performance and environmental geography, and while taking biology credits she signed up for wheel-thrown ceramics as a counterbalance to her science courses.

Her first career was cancer research, which she began in Israel and continued for five years in Los Angeles. She moved back to Anchorage in 2017 and turned to ceramics full time in 2019. Her specialty is underglaze, carved and painted onto handmade porcelain in bright color. She has said she is especially in love with her blue bird and pomegranate designs, and she hopes to help expand Judaica with pieces that pair traditional elements with egalitarian symbols. Sustainability, recycling and reuse sit at the core of the studio.

The Blue Bird line at ModernTribe includes a mezuzah, a wall hamsa, a pomegranate-shaped spice box, a Shabbat candlesticks dish and a kiddush cup.
