Foot Traffic started life in 1986 as a specialty sock shop called d.b.a. SOCKS. When the team couldn't find enough fun, well-made styles to fill the shelves, they started designing their own, and the business grew into an eleven-store chain with shops in cities including New Orleans, Atlanta, Washington D.C., Boston, Los Angeles and San Francisco. Other retailers soon asked to carry the socks, the company took the name Foot Traffic, and it gradually closed its stores to focus on design.
The team works from the historic Liquid Carbonic building in Kansas City's Crossroads Arts District. ModernTribe carries their Hanukkah socks for women and kids, covered in menorahs, dreidels and stars.
