This will sound strange but my current struggle with my health has been a blessing insofar as I know have a better understanding of what it is like for people with a chronic illness. It is hard not to see the meningitis as the curse that it is. I am trying to see it as a blessing. One that will make me a more compassionate rabbi…and person.

I have two major blessings in my life. The first is my wife. She and I met online almost by coincidence. (She forgot she left the chat room window open and decided to contact me based on something I only put in my profile a few days earlier.) We hit it off talking online and when we met in person. We’ve been married for seven and a half years now and I couldn’t imagine my life without her.

My kids are my second blessing. I love seeing them grow up and learn new things. I do miss them being little babies, though…. It can be tiring running after a 5 year old and 19 month old!!!

My daughter is a major blessing—after going through IVF treatments (I am only 34 but they said I was going through menapause) and when they did the egg retrevil I only had 2 eggs and got so blessed on the first try

My biggest blessing is my family, especially my new daughter-in-law who makes my son so happy.

Besides my friends, family and health, I find my job to be a major blessing. I work for Jewish Big Brothers Big Sisters which enriches the lives of children, their families and adults with disabilities by establishing and supporting professionally matched one to one friendships. Not only is the mission unbelievable as there are so many children and families in need that normally would not seek support, the people that I work with each and every day are reason enough to wake up. Being a part of the Jewish community in the professional world, as well as my personal life this past year has been a blessing.

this is going to sound really, really terrible. but the biggest blessing i have in my life right now is the strength i gained from breaking off my engagement. it hurt me, it hurt him – but it was necessary. and it made me realize i am stronger, much stronger, than i ever thought possible.

even what looks like a curse can be a blessing with HaShem’s grace.

My family is a major blessing. My amazing hubby and two sons are only part of it, I am blessed to live near a lot of my extended family. I love watching my boys with my parents and know that they are always here in an emergency.
